If your fit is really hitting, you gotta dedicate song to it (and take a selfie). I found this definition of worship songs online which really resonates:
“Worship songs about consecration encourage believers to commit their lives to God’s purpose. These songs inspire reflection and dedication.”
Preface: My chosen house of worship is fashion/fits. This 70s Lillie Rubin dress required consecration. I had been eyeing it on
for a full calendar year and finally pulled the trigger despite it being final sale and looking mad itchy. It just arrived in the mail yesterday in time for Saturday night and it was Citta' Vuota (It's a Lonely Town) - 1998 Remaster that rang in my head and was thereafter on repeat in my Airpods until I reached my drinks at 9pm.There are getting ready songs, Uber ride songs with the girls, club songs, post-game mellow songs, yada yada. And there are OUTFIT SONGS. Some outfits are so good they need to be lauded via song dedication. It is not every fit that is awarded a song of consecration / is required to confer holy orders on. These are the songs that commend, break in, and solidify the moment for the fit.
IMO, given a fire fit, there are THREE main outfit genres for songs of consecration:
Beautiful/ephemeral/je ne sais quoi
Hot/sexy
Blasé/cool/idgaf
Side note: Lola from Shark Tale somehow embodies all three of these genres in her one fit, which is technically her scales/skin, but a fit nonetheless.
You must have fit songs. Below are my some of my go-tos broken down into these three genres (my personal favorite being the first genre). When you find yourself reveling in your fit, you have to lean in and indulge — vibe-dependent, these songs allow me to fully do this fully.
Beautiful/ephemeral/classic/je ne sais quoi
Citta Vuota 1988 Remix (Mina): This is for when you are wearing silk, something vintage, gossamer, on your way to wherever, walking the street slowly, best in the spring/summer). Absolute favorite
Mary Jane’s Last Dance (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers): This is for the outfits that don’t show a lot of skin but are just that girl. Show don’t tell (🎵honey put on that party dress🎵)
Topanga (Trippie Redd): This is for a fit that is more lowkey but really well done — it’s old Trippie…!
Star (Bazzi): This is a song for when you just feel pretty in it.
Your Love (Nicki Minaj): This is again a song for when you just feel princess in it.
Just a Friend (Biz Markie): This is for the that girl fit.
Brown Eyes Baby (Keith Urban): This is country. Prefacing. It really can for the pretty girl fits.
Hot/sexy
Low (SZA): The lyrics of this song speak for themselves.
Run it Up (Coi Leray): This is for when the fit is just working with body.
Any Flo Milli (Never Lose Me): This is for the fit that is hot and untouchable.
Ele Te Bota Soca Soca (MC Mazzie and others): This is for the obviously hot fits, just like the obviously hot Brazil — Brazilian funk 🤝🏻 . . . a certain kind of hot fit energy is needed here, not a default, but a very fair option given the fit … @ Reels/TikTok runway songs, if you are served this content you know what I’m talking about).
NUEVAYoL / BAILE INoLVIDABLE (Bad Bunny): This comes from a quintessential hot girl fit source,
— currently her go-to.
Blasé/cool/idgaf: Grouping these songs together for this genre because my go-tos all kind of serve the same purpose here but are pervasive. These are for the clean/blasé fits. Trademark USA (Baby Keem), Argentina (Gunna), and Helluva Price (Gunna), etc.
TLDR: When the fit is that good, it needs to be worshipped, and the way to do that is via songs and selfies, selfies and songs. The song 🙏🏻 the selfie ✨ the outfit 🤝🏻 the vibe 🔒.
Always in the market for new songs of outfit consecration . . . would LOVE to hear some others 👂🏻👀😘.
Xx,
Paige
